Four Ways to Slide

Top-Hung Sliding

Door hangs from an overhead track and glides parallel to the wall. The most popular system for open-plan spaces — no floor guide required.

Most Popular

Pocket Sliding

The door disappears entirely into the wall cavity when open — maximum clear opening, completely invisible hardware. Ideal for new builds and renovations with stud partition walls.

Invisible When Open

Double Sliding

Two leaves slide apart from the centre, each retracting to one side. Perfect for wide openings between living and dining spaces — creates a dramatic reveal.

Wide Openings

Bottom-Rolling

Heavy-duty rollers on a floor-mounted track — ideal for extra-tall or heavy door leaves where a top-hung system alone isn't sufficient. Popular in commercial and barn door applications.

Concealed or Exposed Track

Choose a fully concealed overhead track behind a pelmet for a seamless look, or go with an exposed industrial flat track for a design-led statement.

Step 01

Fix the Track Header

Secure the overhead track bracket to the wall or door head using the supplied fixings — the track is fully adjustable for level. For pocket door systems, assemble and fit the steel cassette frame into the stud partition at this stage.

Step 02

Hang the Door Leaf

Hook the pre-fitted door trolleys onto the track. The door leaf hangs in seconds and the height is micro-adjustable via the trolley bolts — no guesswork, no packing.

Step 03

Fit the Bottom Guide

Press-fit the flush floor guide into the floor surface at the open position to prevent swing. On bottom-rolling systems, set the floor track at this stage and drop the door onto the rolling carriages.

Step 04

Attach Pelmet & Pull Handle

Clip the pre-painted pelmet cover over the track to conceal all hardware, then screw the edge pull or flush pull handle to the door face. Final check: set the soft-close damper tension. Done — typically under 2 hours per door.

FAQ

Can't find your answer? Call our technical team on +44 7397 672235 — we've specified hundreds of sliding and pocket systems.

A sliding door travels along the face of the wall on an overhead track — visible (or concealed) on the wall surface. A pocket door slides into a cavity inside the wall and completely disappears when open, leaving no door visible at all. Pocket doors require a stud partition wall with sufficient depth to house the steel cassette frame, while top-hung sliding doors can be retrofitted to almost any opening. Both eliminate the floor area lost to a traditional hinged door swing.

Yes — top-hung sliding systems are ideal for retrofit. The track fixes to the wall above the door opening and the door leaf hangs in front of the existing reveal. You'll need clear wall space equal to the door width on one side (or split across both sides for a double system). Pocket door kits require opening up the stud partition and are therefore better suited to new build or major renovation projects. Our team can advise on which system suits your specific opening.

Yes — all FBS top-hung and pocket sliding kits include a factory-adjusted soft-close damper as standard. The soft-close engages in the final 150mm of travel, gently pulling the door to the closed position without impact. The damper tension is adjustable on site. Bottom-rolling systems use a mechanical buffer stop — a soft-close damper upgrade is available on request.

No raised rail. Our top-hung and pocket kits use a small flush-press floor guide — a low-profile nylon guide that sits flush with or just above the floor surface. It prevents the door from swinging but creates no trip hazard. Bottom-rolling systems use a recessed floor channel which is typically installed flush with the floor finish for the same reason.

For concealed track systems, the track itself is hidden behind the pelmet so the finish is less critical — pelmets are supplied pre-primed ready to paint. For exposed barn-style tracks, we offer matt black, brushed nickel, satin chrome, and white powder-coat as standard. Bespoke RAL powder-coat finishes are available on project quantities — contact us for pricing and lead times.

Yes. All door leaves in our sliding range are available separately if you're supplying your own track hardware or replacing an existing leaf. Track kits and individual hardware components are also available separately. Contact our trade team with the specific leaf size and finish you need and we'll quote accordingly.
